ICV Art Competition 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of SalamFest 2018, the Islamic Council of Victoria have invited students from Year 3 to 12 to participate in a competition to create art work to be displayed at the ICV City Mosque.
The theme for the art works are to be based around the idea of "Sacred Geometry", that is, the beautifully detailed geometric patterns that act as such a recognisable part of Islamic visual arts. These patterns can be seen anywhere from prayer mats, to coloured glass windows, and are a focal point in many of the worlds beautiful mosques, like the stunning Nasir-ol-Molk in Iran.
If your child is interested in participating in the competition, they will be required to create an artwork based on the patterns and geometry of Islamic art that abides by the competition criteria (please see attached documents), and submit the original artwork to the ICV, alongside a photo of themselves with their work, a short reflection that discusses their inspiration and material choices, and entry form signed by a parent or guardian.
Important Dates:
Competition Opens - 18th June 2018
Competition Closes - 20th August 2018
